Vedic astrology yogas — the 30 that actually matter
Classical texts name over two hundred yogas. Most never show up in real charts, and most readers never search for them. These 30 are the ones that move outcomes and the ones people actually want to understand — Gajakesari, Budhaditya, the five Mahapurushas, Kala Sarpa, the Raja and Dhana families, and a handful of named singles.

Pancha Mahapurusha Yogas
The "five great-person yogas". Each is formed by Mars, Mercury, Jupiter, Venus, or Saturn occupying its own or exalted sign in a kendra. They confer the planetary archetype in full: warrior, intellect, sage, beauty, authority.
Raja Yogas — power, status, authority
Combinations that confer leadership, recognition, and rise in life. Most charts have at least one; strong charts have several. Activates in the Dasha of the involved planets.
Dhana Yogas — wealth
Combinations that confer wealth accumulation. Connections between the wealth-house lords (2, 5, 9, 11) form Dhana Yogas; specific named variants (Lakshmi, Saraswati, Chandra-Mangal) sit on top.
Solar yogas (Sun-based)
Yogas formed by planets in adjacency to the Sun, plus the Sun-Mercury conjunction (Budhaditya). They colour reputation, intellect, and visible authority.
Lunar yogas (Moon-based)
Yogas formed by planets in adjacency or kendra-relationship to the Moon. They shape emotional life, wealth pattern, and longevity.
Arishta yogas — afflictive combinations
Combinations classical texts flag as obstacle-producing. Almost all have specific cancellations; the famous ones (Kemadruma, Kala Sarpa, Papa Kartari) are widely overstated online — check the cancellations before assuming the worst.
Named special yogas
Singular combinations with their own classical names — Maha Bhagya, Amala, Shubha Kartari, Parivartana.
