Vesi Yoga

वेसि योग

A planet (not Moon, Rahu, or Ketu) sits in the 2nd house from the Sun. Quiet support yoga — character, speech, and stable resources tied to the kind of planet involved.

How Vesi Yoga is formed

Any planet other than the Moon (and excluding Rahu/Ketu) occupies the 2nd house counted from the Sun. The effect depends entirely on which planet — benefics (Jupiter, Venus, Mercury) give pleasant Vesi; malefics (Mars, Saturn) give harsh Vesi.

Effects when Vesi Yoga is present

Benefic Vesi: stable speech, savings, family support, good moral character. Malefic Vesi: harsher speech, friction in the family of origin, slower wealth accumulation. The yoga colours the 2nd-house themes — money, voice, food, family lineage — through the planet sitting next to the Sun.

  • Benefic Vesi (Jupiter, Venus, Mercury): pleasant speech and stable wealth
  • Malefic Vesi (Mars, Saturn): tougher 2nd house themes
  • Pairs with Vasi (12th from Sun) and Ubhayachari (both sides)

Classical reference

Brihat Jataka and Saravali — Vesi, Vasi, and Ubhayachari described together as the Sun-adjacency yogas.

Frequently asked questions about Vesi Yoga

Why does Moon not count for Vesi Yoga?

Classical doctrine separates the Sun-Moon dynamic into its own yogas (Sunapha, Anapha, Durdhura from the Moon) so the same planet would otherwise double-count.
