Two promotion cycles. Same desk.
What does the chart say about the third one?
A missed promotion is rarely about performance. It’s about timing. Career Compass reads your 10th house, Sun strength, and the active Mahadasha window to tell you when the chart actually supports a real step-up — and why the last two cycles didn’t.
- ✓Next-window verdict — when does the chart support a promotion in the next 12-24 months?
- ✓Why the last cycle didn’t land — Sun condition, Saturn transit, missed Antardasha
- ✓What kind of step-up the chart actually favours (vertical / lateral / functional pivot)
- ✓Specific months that favour the conversation with your manager
Promotion timing is a Sun and 10th-lord question in Vedic astrology. A weak Sun (Shadbala ≤ 40) makes recognition hard regardless of performance — the work is real, the visibility isn’t. A wrong-period dasha (Mercury or Saturn sub-periods often) bottlenecks the upgrade even when everyone agrees you deserve it. The chart reads both.
Most "missed promotion" readings come back with one of three diagnoses: "the Sun was combust during the cycle, recognition was structurally suppressed — next clean window is Q3"; "you’re in a 6th-house Antardasha, which favours service work over leadership — push for impact, not title"; or "the promotion is coming, but lateral, not vertical — and the chart says take it." Each diagnosis comes with a specific timeline.
For people on the manager → director cusp, the reading also covers the 11th house (gains, peer recognition, network promotion). Some promotions come from your manager; some come from peer signals. The chart names which type your chart attracts.
How Vedic astrology evaluates promotion timing
Four structural checks classical texts use to read when a promotion is supported.
1. Sun strength (Shadbala + Sthana Bala)
Sun is the karaka for recognition, authority, and visibility. A strong Sun (Shadbala ≥ 60) in houses 1, 9, 10, 11 supports promotions in any cycle. A weak or combust Sun in houses 6, 8, 12 suggests recognition is structurally suppressed — the work happens, the title lag is real.
2. 10th lord transit and dasha
The 10th lord’s current transit position and active dasha tells you the energy of your career-action zone. 10th lord in own/exaltation sign + favourable Antardasha = high-probability promotion. 10th lord debilitated or combust = structural ceiling for this cycle.
3. Saturn transit over 10th house
Saturn transiting the 10th house from Moon (Kantaka Shani) classically reads as the "promotion delay" transit — work intensifies, recognition delays. Two cycles missed during a Kantaka Shani is the textbook pattern. The transit lasts ~2.5 years; you can time when it lifts.
4. Antardasha switch and Lagnesh aspect
Promotions cluster at Antardasha switches when the new sub-period is in a benefic + 10th-favourable planet. The reading names the specific switch date and what to position for in the 60 days leading up to it.
Sample reading verdict
Verdict: The promotion comes — in November 2026, not this cycle.
Your Sun is debilitated in Libra in your 6th house (Shadbala 34/100). The 6th house is service / daily-work — it explains why your output is undeniable but your visibility lags. You’re currently in Mercury Mahadasha / Saturn Antardasha (until July 2026) — Saturn sub-period in your 10th house is the classical "work intensifies, recognition delays" signature. The Antardasha switches to Mercury-Ketu in July, which favours unconventional moves (lateral or cross-functional), then to Mercury-Venus in November 2026 — exactly when your 10th lord (Mars) goes direct and Saturn moves out of Kantaka Shani territory. November is the window. Build the case visibly between July and October; the promotion lands in the Nov-Jan window.
Common questions
Can the chart predict if I’ll get the promotion this cycle?
It reads probability, not certainty. If your active Antardasha is Sun-Jupiter or Mars-Sun, the conditions are structurally favourable and a "yes" is more likely than "no." If you’re in a Saturn-Mercury or Mercury-Saturn period, structural friction is high — the promotion comes, but slowly. Specific outcomes still depend on your performance, your manager, and political timing.
I work in a flat org. Does promotion timing still apply?
Yes — the reading reframes "promotion" as any recognition / scope-increase / pay-raise event. Flat orgs have those too. The chart’s structural read on Sun strength + 10th lord doesn’t require a hierarchical title; it reads ANY upgrade in role, visibility, or authority.
What if the chart says no promotion in the next year? What do I do?
The reading names what to do during the wait. Sometimes it’s "build leverage now — present at conferences, write, expand network" (6th-house or 3rd-house favoured period). Sometimes it’s "switch companies — the timing is for an external move, not internal promotion." Sometimes it’s "consolidate; the next window is 8 months out, conserve energy." The reading converts the "no" into specific action.
I had a great year. Performance is undeniable. The chart says wait — should I trust it?
Trust the data first, the chart second. The chart adds calibration to what you already see. If performance is undeniable and the chart says wait, the structural friction is real — politics, restructuring, a window of management transition you don’t see. The chart usually surfaces 1-2 months before the friction shows up publicly.
